Heater Core

The heater core is a radiator like component usually mounted inside the dash or against the firewall under the hood.  Hot engine coolant enters the inside the core and air is blown across it resulting in heat for the inside of the vehicle.  Heater core replacement becomes necessary if the core begins to leak.  Heater core leaks can be recognized by steaming up of the windshield with a film that is hard to wipe off.  Also you may have antifreeze leaking on your floorboard or under the vehicle.  Sometimes heater core replacement is suggested by other shops because the core is clogged, and coolant will not flow thru it anymore.  We can clear the core without the expense of replacement!

Control Problems

The heater and A/C share the climate control system of your vehicle.  When you request hot or cold, or choose where you want the air to blow, a sequence of events must occur before the desired effect is obtained.  We can diagnose and repair both the manual and automatic climate controls systems, so there is no reason to take it to the dealer.
